Development and manufacture

These are small parts with unusually demanding duty: a ring travels a kilometre a second against a yarn for months, a heald reciprocates hundreds of millions of times, a ceramic guide has to be smoother than the fibre it carries. Development is mostly metallurgy and surface engineering — which steel, which nitriding or coating, which finish — and we test on running machines rather than on a wear rig, because the failure mode that matters is yarn damage long before the part itself is worn out.

Grinding, heat treatment, coating and ceramic finishing are ours. Parts are built to fit the machine builders our customers actually run — Rieter, Toyota, Picanol, Mayer and others — and we hold dimensional data by machine model so a replacement part drops in without adjustment.

High-speed spindles and rings

Ring-spinning spindles and rings in nitrided and through-hardened steel, balanced and matched for speeds to 25,000 rpm.

Reeds and healds

Stainless and carbon steel reeds and healds for air-jet and rapier looms, with dent pitch held tightly enough for fine fabric.

Knitting needles and cams

Latch and compound needles, sinkers and cam systems for circular and flat knitting machines, polished and hardened.

Ceramic yarn guides and tensioners

Alumina and zirconia guides, eyelets, discs and tension gates, ground and lapped to a mirror surface.

Yarn dividers

Separator combs and dividing elements for creels and warping, in ceramic-faced and hardened steel construction.

Take-up rollers

Rubber-covered, chrome-plated and grooved take-up and delivery rollers, dynamically balanced and ground to a fine runout.
